The Northern California Community of Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, will hold its 2016 Central Valley Autism Speaks Walk event on October 15, 2016 at Modesto Junior College – East Campus (435 College Avenue, Modesto, CA 95350). Proceeds from this annual walk will support Autism Speaks’ mission: To fund scientific research and family and adult services; and raise awareness, and advocate for the needs of people with autism and their families in Modesto and the Central Valley Region. Autism Speaks Walk is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds in the autism community. This grassroots movement is powered by people on the autism spectrum, their families and friends, service providers, schools, businesses and local volunteers. Walkers advocate and take action for the diverse needs of the autism community. Their efforts help generate funds that fuel innovative research and make connections to critical lifelong supports and services. The Modesto event will include a one mile walk and a community resource fair, providing families with “one-stop shopping” for educational options, therapists, recreational programs, child-friendly activities, and other vital services.
