Jennifer Lind will perform a benefit dinner concert at the San Joaquin County Historical Museum on Saturday, August 26. The doors will open at 6 p.m., with a New York steak dinner served at 7 p.m., followed by the concert under the stars. Tickets are $60 per person and can be purchased before August 24 at the Museum or by calling (209) 331-2055 or e-mailing events@sanjoaquinhistory.org. All proceeds benefit the operation of the Museum in Micke Grove Park. Jennifer Lind's show, “A Journey through American Music,” has a variety of American classics and includes genres such as Folk, Western, Country, Blues, and Pop. The show captures the changing styles of music through the decades. Jennifer says, "Sometimes music speaks words we cannot express. Playing music is more than getting up on stage and performing...each song takes you back to the very first time you heard the song…." Jennifer Lind was mentored by Randy Sparks, founder of The New Christy Minstrels, and toured the nation with his world-renowned group for more than six years. She was voted 2010 Western Music Female Vocalist of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists and is a Grammy-voting member of The Recording Academy. Lind will play with musicians Rick Duncan, a bassist from Lodi, Nick Auriemmo, a drummer from Lodi, Denis Colleret, a guitarist from Vacaville, and Hal Eichsteadt, a keyboardist and guitarist from Manteca. The nonprofit Historical Society operates the Museum under an agreement with the County of San Joaquin. The Historical Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday. New exhibitions include “Innovations in Agriculture” in the Cortopassi-Avansino Building, the Delta Water Path, and a renovated Sunshine Trail exterior exhibition. On weekends through August, the Museum includes a “Critter Corral” encounter with live farm animals. The Museum is fully accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.
