Election Day Information
Election Date: Tuesday, June 2, 2026 (Statewide Direct Primary Election)
Polling Hours: All polling places are open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you are in line by 8:00 p.m., you have the right to vote.
Where to Vote In Person: San Joaquin County uses traditional polling places (not Vote Centers). You may vote in person at any of the County's polling places, or at the Registrar of Voters' Office, 44 N. San Joaquin Street, Suite 350, Stockton. On Election Day the Registrar's Office is open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Find your polling place at https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/polling-place.
Ballot Drop Boxes: Return your completed vote-by-mail ballot at any of the County's secure drop box locations. Hours and locations are listed at https://www.sjgov.org/department/rov/voting/drop-box-info.
Drive-Up Ballot Drop-Off: A drive-through drop-off is available outside the San Joaquin County Administration Building, 44 N. San Joaquin Street, Stockton, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Hand your sealed, signed ballot to an Election Officer without leaving your car. Details: https://www.sjgov.org/department/rov/voting/drive-up-ballot-drop-off.
Returning a Vote-by-Mail Ballot: Every registered California voter is mailed a ballot. You may return it by mail (postage is prepaid), at any polling place, at any drop box, or at the Registrar's Office. Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received within 7 days. Ballots returned in person must be in by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Remember to sign the back of the return envelope.
Same-Day (Conditional) Voter Registration: Missed the 15-day registration deadline? You can still register conditionally and vote on Election Day at any polling place in San Joaquin County or at the Registrar's Office. You'll complete a provisional ballot that is counted once your eligibility is confirmed.
Provisional Ballots: Provisional ballots ensure your vote is counted while your eligibility is verified. They are used with conditional registration and in certain other situations. You can check the status of your provisional or vote-by-mail ballot at https://voterstatus.sos.ca.gov/.

Still Need to Vote?
There's still time. Follow these steps:
1. Find a nearby polling place. Visit https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/polling-place and enter your address, or call the Registrar at (209) 468-VOTE (8683). Polling places are open until 8:00 p.m.
2. Return your vote-by-mail ballot. Make sure your ballot is marked and your return envelope is sealed and signed. Drop it at any polling place, drop box, the drive-up location, or the Registrar's Office by 8:00 p.m. If mailing, it must be postmarked today.
3. Bring identification only if needed. Most California voters are not required to show ID. If you are a first-time voter who registered by mail and did not provide a driver's license number, California ID number, or the last four digits of your Social Security number, you may be asked to show acceptable identification (such as a photo ID or a recent document showing your name and address). When in doubt, bring an ID.
4. Lost or damaged your ballot? You can get a replacement. Request one online, in person at a polling place, or at the Registrar's Office. You can also call (209) 468-2890 or email vbm@sjgov.org.
5. Not registered yet? If you are eligible, use Conditional Voter Registration: go to any San Joaquin County polling place or the Registrar's Office today, register on the spot, and cast a provisional ballot that counts once verified.
6. Need assistance? Help is available, including accessible touch-screen voting machines at polling places and the Registrar's Office, accessible remote vote-by-mail ballots, and language assistance. Voters with disabilities or language needs can find resources below or call the Registrar at (209) 468-VOTE (8683), Español (209) 953-1052.
