5:00pm - 7:00pm Peirano Tasting Room - FREE EVENT The THURSDAY WINE SMACKDOWN is a head-to-head challenge where YOU, the wine drinker, will decide the ultimate victor in an evening?s main event. Each bout will feature two wines of the same variety ?one from Lodi?s Finest and one from a European region- in a winner-take-all event. The wines will be paired with a complementary appetizer that will help bring out the characteristics of the wines. Attendees will choose the winner by vote and to the victor goes the spoils! Except the appetizers and the tasting. Those are all yours. The first match of the THURSDAY WINE SMACKDOWN features 2013 Tempranillo paired with Addy?s Paella! Spanish Wine Paired with Spanish Food! Spain throws its hat into the ring with a 2013 Albardiales Tempranillo. Bright and fruity, this light-but-powerful challenger hopes to upset the champ. A wine that has done well in International competition, its next stop is Lodi where it hopes to crush the competition! Peirano Estate Vineyards counters with the 2012 Tempranillo, a vibrant presence with a dark fruit forward and soft tannins. An aroma of ripe berries and cassis are also in its repertoire, so don?t let your guard down on this bright, tasty red! Pair each wine with the savory elegance of Addy?s house Paella.
