A Central Valley city better known for its Zinfandel vineyards and its walkable downtown than for grand landscapes, it nonetheless takes its parks, trails and recreation seriously, and the teams that run them face a recurring design problem: wayfinding. A trail map needs icons — a marker for a trailhead, a picnic area, a restroom, a viewpoint, a difficulty rating — and a park needs signage and small graphics that read clearly at a glance, on a sign, on a printed map, on a phone screen. Producing that kind of clean, small-format icon set traditionally meant a designer and a budget a parks or rec department rarely has to spare.

Why the style suits wayfinding

Then reuse it everywhere, adding new icons within the same constraints as needs arise.
