Message from the President & CEO

On the face of our situation it may seem hard to do something that matters.  We can’t go to work like normal to make things happen for our employees or our businesses… even our customers.  But we can still demonstrate a value, do something worthwhile and meaningful, enough to brighten the day for someone who REALLY needs it.  Isn’t that a part of what leaders do?  See a situation and make it better?

Did you know right here in Lodi there our hundreds of elderly people or those recovering from operations, or in a facility that care for those who are unable to care for themselves? All of these are now quarantined from visitors, as they are frail and many with weak immune systems?  It will brighten their days to receive a card or a 6-year old’s hand drawn, brightly colored daisy with a simple wish that says, “Thinking of you, I made you a Smile Maker.”  You may be home with a bored family or young kids. Since today is Arts & Crafts day during the #LiftingLodi Stay at Home Challenge, you could get some blank paper and start drawing Smile Makers for these great people. Consider it great family bonding time to make a person’s day.

And during these trying times, let’s include the healthcare workers at our local hospital.  Those everyday heroes are risking their lives to help others during this “season of the virus.”  Make a Smile Maker that recognizes their bravery, loving care, sacrifice, and compassion.  I don’t care if you are as old as I am, we all can make a Smile Maker.  It will be a far better use of your time than watching re-runs or another news show repeating what you already heard. Share the work you've done on our social media pages by tagging Lodi Chamber of Commerce so we know you're working on #LiftingLodi and then email the photos to these below administrators:
